Threads of Tradition, the Quilt Shop at Historic Sauder Village, celebrates the rich heritage of quilting that has
been handed down to us and actively encourages the growth and development of this heritage art form. Our
spacious, well-lit
shop features over 3000 square feet of space devoted to displaying many quilt
models, kits and everything needed to make the quilt of your dreams. Stop in for
a visit with our staff and to see what's new... we are always glad to
see you.
Browse through our classroom to see the teachers' models of current classes or
chat with our volunteer quilters who demonstrate hand-quilting skills every
Tuesday through Saturday during the Historic Village season. Although Threads of Tradition is located inside the Historic Village there is never a fee to shop. Simply request a shoppers pass at the Admissions Desk and come out to visit us!
Our friendly and knowledgeable staff is
always available to assist the quilt enthusiast in making selections from
over 3500 bolts of top quality cotton fabric, which covers the full spectrum of homespuns, reproductions, thimbleberries,
moda, and batiks. We also carry a large and ever-changing variety of books,
patterns, notions and gift items including patchwork handbags by "Quilts by
Donna".

Saturday Sampler 2009...
Saturday
Sampler 2009 / 2010 began on September 12, 2009. The quilt pictured
here is one possible design that could be made with the blocks from the next
session. The blocks in the monthly kits will be 12" blocks and the challenge
blocks will be the same pattern sewn in 9" and 6" sizes. Color choices will
include 1930"s reproduction fabrics, batiks in shades of blue/green/purple, or
prints in contemporary shades of soft teal, green, and browns. We will have fat
quarter "lampshades" available in each colorway for use in making the challenge
blocks.
You
are still welcome to register for Saturday Sampler by calling the quilt shop at
419-445-9610 or visiting Threads of Tradition to purchase your pattern and first
block kit. You can either begin with the block that everyone is currently
working on or we can talk with you about options for also sewing the blocks from
the previous months so that you end up with a complete set of twelve blocks.
Either way, you're sure to learn something and have fun in the process!
Saturday Sampler 2008 Reunion
On February 14, we held our Saturday Sampler Reunion in celebration of
another completed year of this popular program. At the reunion, participants are
given the opportunity to show the quilt tops they have pieced from sets of
Sampler blocks. We've posted a number pictures that show a variety of quilts
that our creative quilters have designed using their blocks from either this
year or from previous years of Saturday Sampler.
