Archbold, OH – On Saturday, May 22 all residents of Fulton
County will receive free admission to Historic Sauder Village for
“Fulton County Community Appreciation Day.” In addition to free
admission for all county residents, this special event will also include
a performance by the Delta Community Band and special hands-on
activities throughout the day.
“As a non-profit organization we appreciate the support we have received
from our local community over the past 35 years,” shared Debbie Sauder
David, Sauder Village executive director. “We are humbled by all those
who have helped sustain my grandpa’s dream and we understand the
importance of giving back to our neighbors.”
To thank the Fulton County community, a special event has been planned
on Saturday, May 22. From 10:00 a.m. -5:00 p.m. all Fulton County
residents will receive free admission to Historic Sauder Village. Please
be prepared to present a drivers license or other form of identification
to verify county residency.
“We realize that many Fulton County residents haven’t been to Sauder
Village since they came on a school bus or brought their children many
years ago,” shared Jeanette Smith, Director of Marketing. “We are
offering free admission to Fulton County residents not only as a way to
say thank you, but also to encourage people to visit this tourist
attraction that is right in their own back yard!”
Guests will have an opportunity to experience the daily lives of our
ancestors while visiting with costumed guides in historic homes, farms
and gardens and community shops. Guests will also enjoy watching the
many craftsmen at work in the Village including the glassblower, potter,
tinsmith, weaver, spinner and many others! This will also be a great
opportunity for county residents to visit “Natives and Newcomers” and
explore “Pioneer Settlement,” the new 5-acre addition that opened late
last summer. Guests with young children will enjoy spending time at
Little Pioneers Homestead where they can “play pioneer” as they gather
eggs, milk the fiberglass cow and play in the log cabin.
“Many people in our local community don’t realize what a recognized
tourist destination Sauder Village has become,” shared Mrs. Smith. “As
Ohio’s largest living-history destination, Sauder Village now welcomes
nearly 100,000 guests each year with even more people dining at the Barn
Restaurant, staying at the Inn or Campground or enjoying our many retail
shops.”
While free admission is certainly a highlight of the day, guests can
also enjoy a special performance by the Delta Community Band from
1:30-2:30 p.m. There will also be a variety of hands-on activities
planned for guests of all ages to enjoy. Special offers will also be
available for memberships – to encourage people in our local community
to come back often for a visit to Sauder Village.
“With so many special events planned throughout the season, a Sauder
Village membership is a great way to enjoy all that we have to offer,”
Mrs. Smith added. “With a membership you can come as often as you’d like
– for a fun day away or just a short visit to see the animals in our
1910 barnyard, take a train or buggy ride, visit Little Pioneers
Homestead or just get an ice-cream cone!”
Historic Sauder Village is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00
a.m.-3:30 p.m., Saturday from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and each Sunday
afternoon from noon-4:00 p.m. The Historic Village is closed on Mondays,
except holidays. Admission is $14.50 for adults and $7.50 for students
ages 6-16. Children 5 and under are free. Sauder Village members receive
free admission to the Historic Village for an entire year. Again this
year, children 16 and under are free every Sunday this season! For more
