Our museum building is a treasure chest of Americana. Over 10,000 pieces are on display in what has been described as a ‘visual warehouse’ of items ranging from woodworking planes and tools, cars and horse-drawn farm equipment to household and decorative items. Of special interest is the life-sized wood carving of Native American Chief Winameg and local Indian Agent Colonel Dresden Howard completed for the Village by carver Jim Stadtlander. The single piece carving was made from 1/3 of the “Council Oak” tree, so named for its importance in Indian politics.

The Museum is also the location of “Erie Sauder: A Man who Made a Difference”, a multi-media exhibit telling the life story of Village Founder Erie. In the newly renovated lobby, a changing exhibit highlights recent acquisitions to our collection. Finally, guests will want to stop in the newly expanded
