Anna Witmer-Roth Home
 This is the original 1844 era home of Anna Sauder Witmer Roth and her family.
Originally situated in Allen County, Indiana, this house was moved to the
Historic Village and is a highlight of our Pioneer Settlement addition. Anna was
born in Holmes County Ohio and moved with her husband Peter Witmer to Indiana in
1844. Together they had six children in this small two room home. After Peter’s
sudden death in 1851, Anna remarried Benedict Roth in 1852 and they had 9
additional children. Only 10
 of her children were born in this home before they
moved to a larger house. In this home, guests will
learn more about the woman’s role in the mid 19th century and most days will see
the stone hearth or outdoor bake oven in use. To learn more about Ann,
