I began the trade of the tinner at Historic Sauder Village in 1996 under the guidance of Lloyd Armstrong, a
former tinsmith for the Village. I enjoyed this craft immensely and furthered my studies with Bob Jones, retired tinsmith of Greenfield Village, and Patrick Cunningham of
P.M. Cunningham,
Tinner.
In Ohio, I have demonstrated and displayed my tinware at various trade shows, including Winterfare in Columbus, sponsored by the Ohio Designer Craftsmen; the Antique Arms and Early American Trades Shows in
Archbold; and the Living-History Trade Fair in Fremont.
My main field of study has been in traditional American tinware throughout its history. My work is mostly comprised of exacting reproductions of these pieces. I am also developing a line of contemporary
tinware, combining forms from nature with traditional techniques. I will continue to explore the diversity of this wonderful material to enhance and compliment my current work.
