Join our costumed
teacher as you learn the three r's during this step-back-in-time.
Students will do lessons, make copybooks, write on slates and do a
spelling bee. Children will leave with a copybook, slate, slate
pencil and other papers.

We allow teachers to
use our District 16 School to do their own program. This involves
no staff or supplies on our part... just the building. The teacher
can use the space, desks, and chalkboard for their own lesson
plans. In season, the group should arrive before the Village opens
to the public (any time after 8:30 AM)
and can use the building no later than 10:30 AM in the morning
during weekdays, OR anytime after 1:30 PM in the afternoon until we
close.

the importance of your own history, your experiences and how this
fits into the history of America. We will look at how history
changes over time and the importance of recording your own story.
We will look at ways to preserve your artifacts, photos and work to
share that information with others.

student groups a bite-sized taste of Historic Sauder Village. They
get to tour the 1910 Homestead and see the farmhouse, barnyard with
animals and gardens and then have a chance to play and learn in our
newest addition.... Little
Pioneers Homestead - a "please touch" area created
especially for our youngest guests. They can add a buggy ride for $2.00
more. Note... With this option, they
tour the 1910 Homestead and Little Pioneers Homestead ONLY. This program does not include going
to any other buildings including the ice cream shop or train!

Step inside the wigwams and shelter houses. Learn about the fur

Please Note... This program is
only offered when the Historic Village is closed. This can be
on Mondays anytime during the open season or after the Historic
Village closes in October until Thanksgiving and then again in late
March until the Village opens for the next season in April.
This in-depth step-back-in-history allows children to
experience a typical day for children in 1910. They get to go to
school in the one-room school; do chores with the Farmer; learn
about Native Americans and build a log cabin and visit the historic
homes to make butter, beat rugs and more. Children are encouraged
to dress in costumes. There will be a break for lunch scheduled
(students provide their own lunch).
Traveling My Day Program... We
offer a traveling version of this program by bringing a wigwam and
costumed guide to present this program at your site.

history as a mystery. History detectives will learn how curators
