The Sauder Award is presented for the piece that best exemplifies the spirit and mission of Sauder Village.

Description from artist:
This is the first rug I ever completed. I pieced a block of the month quilt titled “General’s Wives” designed by Jerry Stube of Quilters Quarters in Leavenworth, Kansas. I designed and hooked this rug as a companion piece for the quilt.

Design:
"Hooked & Knitted Presidents"
Hooked, Knitted and Designed by:
Linda Pietz

and Nola Heidbreder of St. Louis, Missouri

A special Sauder Award was given to the “Hooked & Knitted Presidents” Special Exhibit. Each of these collections were designed & completed in less than 1 year. In addition to creating each piece, there was research into the unique “fun facts” for each president and a book, Hooking the Presidents, accompanied the exhibit. This Rug Hooking Week exhibit drew regional as well as national media attention.
