Knitter's Retreat at Sauder Village
Friday & Saturday, February 14 & 15, 2014

  Mark your calendar for the 2014 Sauder Village Knitter's Retreat! Come and learn new techniques, catch up on projects
and share ideas with other knitters.

Bring your knitting friends and enjoy two days of knitting in the beautiful and spacious Sauder Heritage Inn, have the opportunity to take a knitting class, and dine at the delicious Barn Restaurant.

Your registration fee of $90 per person ($85 for members) includes...

  • Two days of knitting in a private meeting room at the Heritage Inn, starting at 10 am on Friday and ending 4 pm Saturday.
  • Buffet dinner on Friday night and lunch on Saturday
  • Door prize drawings.
  • One class of your choice from the following selection:
    Additional class for a $10.00 fee (based upon availability)

Creating Your Fair Isle Knitting Pattern – For Headband

Level:  Intermediate
Teacher:  Gail Richardson
Day / Time:  Friday 10 a.m. – 12 noon

With this class you will be creating your own pattern design.

Fair Isle Pattern

Crock Pot DyeingDyed Yarn

Teacher:  Lyn Dorman
Day / Time:  Friday, 10 a.m. – 12 noon
Maximum:  6
Additional Class Fee:  $20.00

In this class the student will learn the basic techniques for dyeing yarn.  The dyes used are non-metallic and can be handled comfortably in a home setting.  The class will review yarn preparation, dye preparation and dye application.

Knitting Your Fair Isle Headband

Prerequisite – Friday a.m. class - Creating Your Fair Isle Knitting Pattern – For Headband
Level:  Intermediate
Teacher:  Gail Richardson
Day / Time: Friday 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.

In this class you will be knitting the headband pattern that you created from the morning class. This is where you see the pattern come alive with yarn.

Knitted BraceletsDesign a Bracelet Class
Level:  Beginner
Teacher:  Tina Stellhorn
Day / Time:  Friday, 2-4 p.m.

This project allows you to knit a single bead-single side bracelet, a double sided bracelet, a reversible bracelet.

Cable Shawl with Pockets
Level:  Advanced Beginner
Teacher:  Georgienne Westrick
Day / time:  Saturday morning, 9 – 11 a.m.

A shawl 22” x 68” designed with pockets, sample knitted with Sensations Rainbow Classic from JoAnn Fabrics. This is a great shawl for chilly days or chilly rooms, especially when you want to warm your hands, carry your phone, wallet or a book with you. The cable and lace pattern is easy to knit and if desired, you can learn to cable without using a cable needle.

Shadow Knitting
Level:  Beginner and above
Teacher:  Lyn Dorman
Day / Time:  Saturday morning, 9 – 11 a.m.

This class will introduce students to the wonderful world of shadow knitting.  With this knitting technique a knitter can create hidden pictures within the knitting and explore different uses of color.

Instructor will provide the Pattern to be used in class and samples of shadow knitting to be displayed for students to see.

Hug ShrugHug Shrug

Level: Intermediate

This shrug is designed using the Hugs and Kisses cable pattern.  It is knitted from side to side all in one piece then an edge is added (no seams.)  Sizes S, M, L, and XL. A shrug that is ideal for those chilly restaurants and movie theaters when you just want something to cover your shoulders.

Fingerless Mitts

Level: Intermediate
Teacher:  Tina Stellhorn
Day / Time:  Saturday, 2-4 p.m.

In this class you will learn how to knit fingerless mittens with picot edging and King Edward’s lace.

  • A maximum of 10 people may enroll per class.
  • Teachers are Georgienne Westrick, Tina Stellhorn, Gail Richardson and Lyn Dorman.
  • A materials list will be provided with your retreat confirmation.

Hotel Reservation Information

You are responsible for your own hotel room, available at a special group rate at the Sauder Heritage Inn. To receive this rate, you will need to reference the booking ID # and the confirmation number you will receive after registering. An expanded continental breakfast is included in your hotel package.
